Associate
Dawson is an Associate at Bella. He values the opportunity to perform analysis that is both quantitative and qualitative in nature. Dawson is particularly interested in the impact of private equity on society and how the industry can create overall economic value. During his time at Bella so far, he has contributed to strategic review and impact analysis efforts.
Dawson joined Bella after graduating from Caltech with a double major in Computer Science and Business, Economics, and Management. During the summer leading into his sophomore year of undergraduate studies, Dawson interned at NASA/JPL. He worked in the geosciences department as a data analyst, contributing to the Mars 2020 mission. Dawson later interned for a biotech startup focusing on applying machine learning and other advanced imaging techniques to radiology. He researched and implemented machine learning approaches towards identifying pulmonary features within CT imagery for COVID-19. While at Caltech, Dawson was the captain of the NCAA D3 baseball team.
Dawson’s academic interests are twofold. From an early age, he loved learning about the formal sciences. Later on in high school, he developed a passion for economics. Putting these two aspects together, through his coursework at Caltech he synergized the two fields of computer science and finance, providing him with a background based in rigor and intuition.
Dawson’s favorite aspect of being an Analyst at Bella is along similar lines. He gets to approach projects with a combined mindset. He also values opportunities to perform analysis that is both quantitative and qualitative in nature. In particular, he hopes to further explore the positive impacts of private equity on society and how the industry creates overall economic value.
While away from work, Dawson enjoys golfing, watching the Red Sox, racket sports, and exploring Boston.
