At Bella, you’ll have the opportunity to solve complicated problems for clients around the world, ranging from fast-growing regional venture capital firms and development organizations to top-10 global buyout groups and government agencies. Far from just a cog in the machine, you’ll contribute meaningfully from day one, interacting with clients and seeing projects through from start to finish. We expect big things from our team members—you’ll be pushed to grow and learn every day. But along the way you’ll be supported by colleagues and mentors who give you the tools you need to rise to each new challenge.
Each member of the Bella team brings unique skills and interests to the firm. We are researchers, musicians, mathematicians, and sailors. What brings us together is inexhaustible curiosity and a passion for solving meaningful questions. Our work is elevated by collaboration. Team members are both unafraid to ask for advice and generous with support. We’re committed to the highest standards of integrity and challenge one another to dig deeper into each question and think critically about our work. Alongside all of this, we believe in having fun. Our work is rounded out with afternoon ping pong, walks to the farmers’ market, conversations over coffee, and the occasional game of fetch with one of the office dogs.
Dr. Josh Lerner lives on a farm in Hamilton, Massachusetts with his wife Wendy and a menagerie of horses, donkeys, sheep, rabbits, hens, dogs and cats. In 2009, they came upon a newborn goat up for adoption and named her Bella. She quickly grew into a beloved family pet, sleeping on the bed, riding along in the truck, and befriending a donkey. When Bella Private Markets was incorporated in 2010, the firm was named in her honor.
In 2013 Bella Private Markets moved to Salem, Massachusetts, once one of the greatest financial engines of an emerging country. Salem Harbor was crucial to burgeoning international trade in the early American settlements, as countless private-capital-funded ventures conducted business through its busy ports. Today it remains a vibrant city, rich with historical landmarks, museums, and a thriving culture. Our offices are in a centuries-old bank building near many restaurants and attractions, easily accessible from Boston via commuter rail and ferry. Whether you choose to live in Salem or nearby Boston, you’ll experience all of the history and culture that the Massachusetts Bay has to offer. Learn more about Salem here.
